In December 2008, the two leading companies in the aesthetic industry joined forces. Thermage History
Thermage was founded in 1995 by Dr. Edward W. Knowlton, a plastic surgeon who had a great idea for non-invasive skin tightening. He envisioned a device that would use radio-frequency energy and a reverse thermal gradient to heat the deep layers of skin to tighten collagen, at the same time protecting the skin’s surface with continuous cooling.
To put the concept into action a team of scientists and engineers were assembled. Shortly thereafter, the team invented the first Thermage device, which was patented in 1997 and cleared by the FDA in 2002.
Today, through continual innovation, Thermage is the gold standard for skin tightening and contouring. The technology has more than 50 patents, and the system is in more than 2,300 medical practices in 80 countries. More than 500,000 Thermage treatments have been performed worldwide.
Reliant Technologies History
